"Mika Rottenberg’s installations shift from environment to video and back again. As the artist has explained, “In other mediums like sculpture or painting, it is obvious that a work has specific dimensions and light conditions; I think video should be treated in the same way.” The limitation, specificity, and irregularity of her spaces invite viewers to take in her work through not only their eyes but all their senses, an approach to visual narration that is at once biological, cerebral, psychological, environmental, historical, and sociocultural."
