Quote from Parkett
“You can’t catch up with things that are evident-beautiful, right, definitely compelling (as their defining opposites). It’s a matter of being ahead of calculation or design or definition by exactly that distance that establishes their usefulness.”

Artist Document
Franz West‘s shelf "2 x 20 Years of Parkett" (2004/Vol. 70 reflects the artist‘s core idea for many of his objects for daily life, as illustrated in the photo (see image below) showing West in his bedroom with a slightly larger version of a book shelf in the form and style of his edition for Parkett. West noted “I don’t construct things from out of the void and place them into the world. I face the world and I respond to its demands the best I can. That’s the way I work––not constructive but responsive, as they say.”
